Meet The Kingdom Team

Hi my name’s Hannah and this is me with my three little (and not so little) people. Chloe, Toby and Lola. They are my inspiration for virtually everything that I do in my life but there was a time when this photo could have looked very different.

Due to circumstances in my childhood it was fair to say I was a pretty troubled soul and by my teenage years I struggled hugely with depressive episodes. The combination of all these factors created the perfect storm which finally led to me attempting to take my own life not once but twice.
I was just thirteen.
These attempts weren’t a plea for attention but they also weren’t necessarily because I didn’t want to be alive either.
It was purely because I could see no other way of escaping the anguish of feeling misunderstood and consumed by negative thoughts 24/7. I had no way of feeling in control of the thoughts within my head or indeed the world around them.

The second attempt I was given a 20% chance of survival. Like I say, this photo could have sadly looked very different.

Over time and with a lot of love and support I slowly healed and began to understand the power of understanding your mind and emotions. Whilst I still face mental health challenges from time to time I now live an incredibly happy life helping many people to understand themselves and their behaviour better. The memory of the despair of those early years in my life, however, will always be a part of what has formed me to be the person that I am today.

It is because of my past that I feel so deeply passionate about creating and spreading the word of Kingdom. It is a book that will not only provide children with a fun and effective method to help them to process and own their thoughts but also a tool to help parents open up conversation about emotion with their own children.
It is definitely a coping mechanism that I wish I had had all those years ago.
If it stops even one child from feeling out of control of their mind and thoughts then it will have been worth every minute that has gone into it.

The Dream Team

Bringing Kingdom of your Mind to life has taken a lot of time, love and emotion not only from me but also others with a similar passion to helping and supporting young peoples emotional well being. Below is a bit more information about the wonderful people that give their time and talents to creating a book that will hopefully help many human beings young and old.

Dean The Don of Design

Dean Harmer

Dean is an exceptionally talented designer who lives with his wonderful partner Lisa and their two gorgeous children. Without Dean and his exceptional design skills this book simply wouldn’t exist . I am pretty sure that I would, in fact, still be sitting in a coffee shop typing words on a screen and wondering what on earth to do next! Dean took Kingdom and completely brought it to life and for that I will be eternally grateful.

I am incredibly thankful to Dean for his constant support, cups of motivational tea, incredible talent but mostly for being an all round splendid human being …. He is also one of the punniest men you will ever meet. Need a pun or an innuendo to cheer your day… Dean is, without doubt, your man.

Dean’s company aitch:creative have worked on many children’s favourites over the years including Peppa Pig, PJ Masks and Taralandia. To see more of Dean and his teams creations and to experience his skill and humour at it’s finest visit

Fiona The Fabulous Fixer

Fiona Marshall

Fiona is a very wise and talented lady who lives with her partner. Between them they have 5 wonderful children..

Fiona was like an angel that descended into The Kingdom Team exactly when she was needed.

With a background in publishing Fiona brought an attention to detail that my creative big picture mind was desperately missing. Between herself and a team of proof readers she has ensured that Kingdom of your Mind actually makes sense and gives your child the best reading experience possible.

The most valuable thing Fiona brought to the project though was herself. A comprehensive understanding of mental health issues coupled with one of the biggest hearts you could meet made her a complete joy to create and work with.

Dan The Drawer of Dreams

Dan Bramall

Dan, also known The Scribbler, is an all round talented and great guy. He lives with his wife, 2 daughters and a polydactyl cat called Layla (Don’t worry I had to google it as well!)

Dan studied Graphic Arts in Liverpool (ages ago) and more recently (but still quite a long time ago) did an M.A. in Illustration. He has worked as a creative in a wide range of different sectors including work with British Gas, Tesco, Robert Wiseman Dairies, Harper Collins, Bloomsbury Books, Penguin Books, Hatched Estate Agency and Costain.

Dan’s amazing imagination and talent created the illustrations that bring Kingdom to life and provide the wonderful, warm and humorous imagery that you will find inside.

Scruff the Dog

Scruff has sat loyally by my side throughout creation, frustration and countless brain storming meetings. He has been royally rewarded for his contribution with a mixture of biscuits and hugs.

It’s a shame Scruff can’t read really because, it’s fair to say, he has a tendency to be a little neurotic at times so could probably benefit more than most from reading Kingdom!
